You’ll find me opening on the dates that’s aren’t asterisked or festivals. As many of the shows are already sold out, I’ll be playing some of my own intimate ones here and there. Keep your eye on the tour dates page.
My new music video! Once again made pretty much entirely by my usual suspect Natalie van den Dungen (what a talented legend). She’s been wanting to make a literal clip for one of my songs for ages. This one is so much so it’s like a documentary. The guy playing me spent 6 months following me around to get into character. It’s like looking in a mirror.
Stephanie Hughes (Dick Diver) as driver
Al Montford (Dick Diver, UV Race) as cop
Erik Jensen (Saturday Paper Editor) as creep
Glen Walton (Suitcase Royale) as yours truly
Mark Monnone (Lucksmiths) as pedestrian thug
Gary Olsen (Ladybug Transistor) as ticket seller
And lots of other beautiful friends.
You can have a sneaky listen to the new album ‘Where Did You Come From?’ in full all this week by streaming it on the Guardian website, just one week before it hits the shelves on March 6th.
And here’s an article to go with it, written by Erik Jensen:
We’re offering a number of prizes for anyone who orders the new album ‘Where Did You Come From?’ on either CD or LP before the release date on Friday March 6th, to be drawn a few days before hand. This includes international buyers as well. Details as follows:
FIRST PRIZE – LIVE CONCERT ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA
One winner will be drawn out to receive a free solo show IN YOUR OWN HOME for you and your family and friends (hopefully not just you, that would be creepy), to be arranged sometime in 2015. Hopefully we could tie it in to the March/April tour? If you live in Tennant Creek or somewhere like that it might be tricky, but then it’s more of an adventure for me! You might have to pick me up from the bus station.
Details of the actual performance can be ironed out between myself and the winner when the time comes.
SECOND PRIZE – SIGNED AND PERSONALIZED TEST PRESSING
One winner will receive the double-LP test pressing with my signature, and whatever message or picture you want scrawled across it. Maybe you want it dedicated to a friend or loved one? There are only two of these in existence.
OTHER PRIZES – SIGNED PHOTO PRINTS
I took many photos on my trusty OM01 Olympus during my travels through the US for the making of this album. Many of them will be reprinted in the booklet which comes with it. We’ll draw 20 people out of the hat to receive an 8 x 10 print of your choice from the collection. Signed also.
FIRST PRIZE – SKYPE CONCERT
Obviously lamer than getting a proper concert in your home, this is the next best alternative. Skype is awkward at the best of times. Of course if the winner lives somewhere in the world I think I’ll be going this year I’d much rather come and do this live. But obviously if you live in Greenland (and yes, we’ve had orders from there before) it would be hard to get there… but AMAZING!
SIGNED AND PERSONALIZED TEST PRESSING
Same as above. You’ll be mailed the second test pressing, signed etc.
OTHER PRIZES – SIGNED PHOTO PRINTS
We’ll draw 10 people out of the hat to receive an 8 x 10 print of your choice from the album booklet collection to be sent straight to you.
The brand new LP Where Did You Come From? will be released physically in Australia and USA (through Yep Roc Records) on Friday the 6th March this year, and on iTunes worldwide.
This is the first time an album of mine has been released on vinyl. Not only that, but it wouldn’t all fit on a single LP so we had to make it a double. Both the CD and the LP will come with a 36-page booklet filled with all the lyrics plus photos I took throughout the journey on my battered old camera, and each of these will also both be available as a Special Edition version which will come with a live CD of a show I played supporting Billy Bragg, way back when I began in 2000.
The CD special edition will be a very limited run, and the LP will be also hand numbered to 300. You can pre-order the album through my label Flippin Yeah to ensure you get your copy delivered to your door around a week before the official release date.
